Our first stop was Gorda Peak, to hike to the summit. The hike was steep with lots of rocks and roots. There was no lookout tower at the top (well, it was there, but smashed by hurricanes) so we couldn’t get above the trees to see the view. That was a disappointment. We continued on to the north shore of the island, where most businesses were closed.
We stopped at Hog Heaven for lunch. Hog Heaven is way up on a hill so there’s a gorgeous view from there, and good food too. They didn’t have pork, so I had ribs and Steve had chicken. It looked like the entire place had been rebuilt after the storms. On our way back to town we saw goats and a load of lumber that had been dropped in the road. And the truck that came back to collect it too.
