Perhaps the best two-mile hike in Michigan.
Four relaxing days camping and exploring Sleeping Bear Dunes plus a day trip to Traverse City.
We spent one of our days camping here just hanging out at the beach and looking for petoskey stones. Which we found.
Petoskey is one of my favorite places in Michigan. Great state park and beach and a walkable town with lots of dining and shopping options.
We visited the three over two days but do them all at once if you can and save driving.
Chapel Basin includes Chapel Falls, Chapel Rock, and Chapel Beach. It’s not a difficult hike to Chapel Rock. A good day out.
A boat tour of Pictured Rocks is THE way to see the rocks. Not much is visible from land. We took the powered option.
Munising Falls and Sand Point are near each other. The falls are a quick visit; Sand Point is worth hanging out at for a while.
Munising is the closest town to Pictured Rocks and a good place for exploring the area, with a nice campground and some good lodging and dining options.
A nice overlook of the park, though the Lake of the Clouds overlook gets you trees AND a lake, if you have to pick only one.
