The Baths

The Baths on Virgin Gorda are like nothing else I've ever seen, and well worth a visit if you're in the islands.

It was a hot walk from our resort down to the Baths, though not difficult. It was hard to tell looking at maps if it was a reasonable walk. Much of it was just along the side of the road, but there was shoulder to walk on and it wasn’t a busy road. Once at the Baths it was a nice hike down to Devil’s Bay, where there were lots of screaming kids. You then make your way through some caves and into the Baths themselves. It’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before, or heard about, and was definitely worth the trip to Virgin Gorda. We got to swim while we were there too. On the other side of the Baths, Poor Man’s Bar was open so we had a beer and waded. There was a nice guy selling t-shirts too.

On our second trip to the Baths we took the camera and took our time, exploring and pausing at some areas we missed the first time. We again had another couple of beers at Poor Man’s Bar, after finding out that $5 per beer is typical.
