Aruba (Eagle Beach)
Having spent 6 days on Aruba at the beginning of our trip, we planned to spend our last 3 days at the beach. Period. And that’s what we did.

We saw only a few of the many beaches on Curaçao and they were all beautiful. Here’s a sample. (Note that beaches on Curaçao often have multiple names.)
Bonaire’s shoreline is mostly rocky. There are some beaches with sand, though the water entry tends to be rocks. Doesn’t mean it’s not beautiful.
We expected beautiful beaches on Aruba and we found them. Along with the hundreds of other people who appreciate beautiful beaches.
We made a day trip to Brighton to check out the Royal Pavilion, the beach, and a little of the town. About an hour by train from London if you get the express.
Llandudno has some pretty beaches, though it wasn’t exactly beach weather when we were there. Beach walking weather, not beach sitting weather. I imagine the mood is very different on a sunny summer day.
Sámara is a place we could return to and spend more time. The beach is good for walking and there are some places with umbrellas and sun loungers to rent. And if we got bored – which we didn’t this time – there are distractions nearby.
This was our second visit to Montezuma and our first time staying in the village. It seemed noisier and trashier than last time. That could be down to staying in town rather than up in the hills. And we definitely didn’t miss the steep hill.
With a rental car for a couple of days we drove the Nicoya coast north from Playa Grande.
Playa Grande was another beach we wanted to try out. We found it a little limited to support a longer stay but we enjoyed the 4 nights we spent there. The beach is great for walking though there’s no shade. It is fun watching the surfers.
