St Peter’s Basilica

We visited St Peter's after the Vatican Museum. Though the line was long it moved quickly.

We got in line all the way around the other side, beyond the fountain in the middle. Despite that we only waited an hour to get in. Entry is free but everyone must go through security.

I was expecting St Peter’s to be somehow more or better than other cathedrals. It wasn’t really, though it is beautiful.

We don’t know what this procession was but it happened shortly after we entered. I haven’t seen so many men in skirts since I last went to the Highland Festival in Alma, Michigan.

The tomb of St Peter is in the middle of the basilica.

St Peter’s has the largest interior of any church in the world. We saw a number of priests and nuns in and around the building.
