St John Baptist church is a nice rainy day activity. It's worth it just for the scale model (in Legos!) of the Abbey of St Mary.
The tower of St John Baptist church dominates downtown. Inside it’s lighter than expected.
Side chapels along one wall had different ceiling treatments, including lacy stonework that may have come from the abbey.
Some of the organ pipes were painted, something we haven’t seen before.
A unique feature inside was a scale model of the Abbey of St Mary. In Legos! It has cutaway sections so you can see inside, even little monk figures and trees. The abbey itself was torn down by Henry VIII. It’s worth going in the church just to see this.
