Our schedule didn't allow us a lot of time at the cathedral but it was definitely worth even a brief visit.
We made a flying visit to the inside of Salisbury Cathedral before catching our 9:40 train to Bath. Salisbury Cathedral was built between 1220-1258. Pillars of the Earth is based on the building of this cathedral. It has the tallest tower and spire in Britain. (So it’s hard to get the whole thing in a photo!) It also has a copy of the Magna Carta, which we saw.
When you take a closer look, the detail on the outside of the cathedral is incredible.
The interior isn’t bad either. Here’s some of the stained glass.
The cathedral also has the oldest medieval working clock in the world, built about 1386. We’d forgotten about the clock so that was a pleasant surprise.
Even the ceiling has beautiful detail.
