Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive

Even if you don't plan on hiking Santa Elena canyon at the end of the road, it's worth driving Ross Maxwell road in Big Bend National Park for the scenery along the way.

It’s a nice road and an easy drive, with interesting topography like these chocolate-and-cream rocks.

You can see the wall where Santa Elena Canyon is in the distance. And we saw cows on our way back. That’s another first in a national park.

More of the scenery along the way.

We named some of the things we saw. We dubbed this the yurt rock.

And these are the Mule Ears, where we’ll be hiking tomorrow. You can see them from an overlook if you’re not up for a hike.
