Ronny Creek Walk

The Ronny Creek Walk was the last of the walks we did at Cradle Mountain. We went looking for platypus and found wombats and other wildlife instead.

The landscape at Ronny Creek is different than either Dove Lake or the area near the ranger station. Here it’s more marshy and lower growing plants, with a few peeks at the creek.

Once again the trail is mostly boardwalk. The trail is wider leading from the trailhead and up to and past the small bridge. The spur that leads over to Waldheim is narrower.

We walked over to Waldheim to check out the cabins. The cabins themselves weren’t that interesting, though walking over there gave us a good overview of the surrounding area and a look at a different type of forest.

We saw lots of wombats. And lots of wombat poo. They like to display their cube-shaped droppings.

We also saw some smaller wildlife: a dragonfly, a copper-colored skink, and a bright blue and black bird.
