Visit Port Arthur if you’re interested in Australia’s convict history.
When you purchase your ticket, they give you a card with information about a person connected with the site when it was active, such as a convict or a guard. The convict I drew was actually not convicted of a crime but was sent there for good measure. Funny in a sad sort of way.
Above are pictures of a hallway, one of the cells, and a garden on the grounds. We suspect it wasn’t as clean then as it is now.
