Old San Juan has two extensive old forts. We enjoyed the history and the architecture. And the views were pretty good too. They're part of the US National Park system.
Some of the interesting architectural features include sentry posts and a very well-protected old well.
There are examples of guns, cannon, and uniforms.
I think of forts as really old but these actually saw action during the World Wars and were modernized.
Even if you’re not interested in the forts themselves, they offer great views of the city and surrounding area.
They’re also a good place to spot iguanas.
Here’s one last shot of one of the many sentry posts.
