We took the original hop-on-hop-off bus tour to get an overview of the city and sights.
Near Buckingham Palace we all had to get out and walk because the bus couldn’t get through improperly parked cars. While we were walking police cars went tearing by, with about 60 of us on this little triangle of a traffic island. Then the cars were moved and we were able to get back on. It was a nice tour on the open top deck; we took the Blue Line to get near where we’re staying.
The Admiralty Arch. The road beyond leads to Buckingham Palace.
The Wellington arch. One of the many statues in London. Largest bronze sculpture in Europe on top.
We all had to get off the tour bus here ...
Crossing the Thames for the first time, looking downstream.
Monument to the Great Fire of London.
Horseguards parade.
Piccadilly Circus. I told Steve to take a photo, because we probably wouldn't be back.
