It's not THE acropolis in Athens but it is old and beautiful and has beautiful views from the top. And the climb was not as bad as we feared.
It’s a shorter walk than we thought, though it is pretty much all stairs. There’s also more shade than we were expecting which was a pleasant surprise. It cost €12 each to go into the acropolis. It was worth that if only for the views from the top. There’s also plenty of old stuff up there and renovations and repairs to the older stuff. Apparently the Italians did some repairs in the late 30s but they didn’t hold up very well so they redid the work between 1985 and 2000 something. The earliest finds date back to about the 4th millennium BC. Then there are some “newer” structures from the 12th and 13th centuries. We love that the new stuff in Greece is that old …
