Goðafoss

Goðafoss was the first waterfall we saw in Iceland and one of the prettiest. It's about 40 minutes drive from Mývatn.

We were driving the Ring Road clockwise so we stopped on our way to Mývatn. There’s parking on either side of the river. We just parked at the first one we came to. Trails lead from the parking lot to the falls.

The waterfall isn’t a solid sheet of water so it’s more visually interesting.

The river really spreads out at the top of the falls. It forms cliffs below the waterfall. You can climb down to river level. (We did not.)
