We’d thought about walking from Manly to Spit Bridge but only made it as far as the headland just beyond Shell Beach. It was still a nice walk.

Our three nights in Manly were a relaxing way to extend the beach vibe and finish up our trip to Australia. Manly would make a good base for a Sydney visit, with the 20-minute ferry connection.
Airlie Beach Coast Walk
The coastal boardwalk sounded like an easy, scenic way to get some steps in, and it was. We walked from the lagoon over to Turtle Boardwalk.
Whitsunday Island Tour
Whitsunday Island and Whitehaven Beach were just as pretty as all the photos. We had a relaxed day out. And I do mean relaxed. It’s just a beach.
Airlie Beach and Brisbane
Airlie Beach is known as a backpacker beach town. We are not young backpackers and still enjoyed our three nights here.
Beauty Spots Tour
The Beauty Spots Tour offered by the Kingfisher Bay resort was the main event of our stay on K’gari/Fraser Island. Beauty spots indeed.
K’gari (Fraser Island) and Hervey Bay
Our 5 nights on K’gari/Fraser Island were the relaxing resort stay that we wanted. We could easily have spent more than one night in Hervey Bay too.
Paddle Steamer Trip
Our one must-do in Echuca was to take a trip on a paddle steamer. It was a pleasant couple of hours.
Echuca
We spent three nights in Echuca to experience paddle steamers. It was a nice small town, but probably not worth the detour to if you’re not into paddle steamers.
Phillip Island Penguin Parade
We spent an extra night in Melbourne just to do this day trip, which we missed the first time we were here.
