Andromeda Botanic Gardens
Andromeda Botanic Gardens were started by the woman who introduced most of the decorative plants to Barbados.
Hunte’s Gardens
Hunte’s Gardens is a magical whimsical tropical garden in a sinkhole. With lounging cats and tortoises.
Barbados Beaches
Barbados has seemingly endless sandy beaches. We took a drive to check out some of the more remote ones.
Holetown
Holetown is a great base for exploring the west coast. Nice beaches, nearby restaurants and supermarket, and everything’s walkable. Plus the bus runs up and down the main road. We spent 10 days here.
St Lawrence Gap
St Lawrence Gap is a compact collection of hotels, restaurants, and bars near beautiful beaches on the south coast of Barbados. We loved our 10 days there.
Diamond Falls
The falls and surrounding gardens are pretty and serene. Well worth the walk from Soufrière.
Soufrière
Soufrière is a sleepy little town near the Pitons and other attractions. Most of which require wheels to get to, and that we didn’t see because I was ill most of the 7 nights we were there. It’s still beautiful.
St Lucia and Barbados
St Lucia is lush and mountainous. Barbados is flatter and more developed, with endless beaches. We split our two weeks on St Lucia between Gros Islet and Soufrière, and our 20 days on Barbados between St Lawrence Gap and Holetown.
Gros Islet
Gros Islet is in the more developed area of St Lucia. There were lots of conveniences but thankfully not any high rise hotels. And a long, beautiful beach. We spent 8 nights here.
