Casa Mila (La Pedrera)

scale model of Casa Mila

Casa Mila (also known as La Pedrera) is an apartment building designed by Gaudí. This was the last Gaudí property we saw. We didn’t find it as impressive as the preceding Gaudí stops but you do get to see an apartment with actual furnishings inside. So that was interesting.

Casa Batlló

Casa Batlló is one of the houses Gaudí designed and is as amazing as the Sagrada Familia in its own way. It is based on an underwater theme rather than religious.

Sagrada Familia

Just amazing. Cathedrals are amazing anyway but to see a modern cathedral like this with all the symbolism explained is fabulous. Get the audio guide.

Park Güell

There weren’t quite as many structures as I was expecting. But the natural surroundings were beautiful and we got some nice views of the city so it wasn’t a disappointment it was just different than expected.

Barcelona

Modernista houses

It is worth coming to Barcelona for the Sagrada Familia alone. Don’t miss it! And there’s a whole lot more to see here, so we spent five nights. We can see why it’s over-touristed. So glad we came, and at a time of year when it seemed not so crowded.
