Walk around Buttermere
Buttermere is another beautiful and mostly flat, easy walk around a lake. It’s easily reachable by bus from Keswick, though the bus did get crowded.

We opted for the easier Catbells terrace walk rather than trying to make the summit. I don’t know how good the view is at the top, but it was beautiful where we were.
Castlehead and Friar’s Crag offered great views right on the edge of Keswick. Some effort was involved with Castlehead but not a lot of time.
We loved our three nights in Keswick, a good traveler’s base for the Lake District that also manages to feel like a real town.
