We finally got that good weather on our last full day in Nice. From the train station in Antibes we walked past all the (huge) boats in the marina into town.
In town we found some large squares, like this one with the gazebo, some narrow streets with lots of cafes, and some more modern streets. Antibes looks like a good place to spend a few days. We considered Antibes as our base in this area, or splitting our time between Nice and another location, but decided it wasn’t really a beach trip so we’d stay in town.
We stumbled on a church near the Picasso museum with these lovely carved wood doors.
It was such a nice day we found the town walls and walked all the way to the end. On the left we had sea views.
On the right we had walls and hillsides landscaped with succulents and other plants that don’t need much water.
Lions outside front doors we’ve seen before. Random statue on balcony? Not so much. We saw this same blue-and-stone motif in Normandy. It looks much different in this environment.
At the end of the wall was this succulent garden where we sat to take in the view for a bit.
